Rosie is our first Aussie from Juli May Wiseman of Skyecove in North Carolina. Since we got her at 8 weeks old, she has attracted attention everywhere we take her, with her gorgeous blue merle coloring and single blue eye.

We continued Puppy Culture / When Pigs Fly training protocols when we got her, so she is pretty fearless, and will do whatever we ask. She loves to go everywhere with us - her favorite thing is hiking in Tishomingo State Park or Cane Creek Canyon, and she ALWAYS finds some water to wade or swim in. But she also enjoys being with us at urban festivals like the annual Gum Tree Arts Fest in Tupelo, or Octoberfest in Nashville and she was very popular cruising the "Boulevard" in Dallas at SMU's parents' weekend last fall. She is very, very smart and loves to learn tricks and behaviors. Since she was about 4 months old, Emma has had her doing a rehearsed series of tricks for friends and visitors, and its clear that she loves to please. Her active life on the farm keeps her challenged and in shape. She has done some trial runs in Barn Hunt demonstrations, and loves to search and find that rat! We also do some agility training at home, which she loves.

True to the breed, she loves her family, but is tolerant and polite, but mostly indifferent with strangers. Emma is her "emotional support person." She tolerates being petted and being around people outside her circle, but she is not one to run up and love on strangers. This results in a dog who, true to the breed's herding role, constantly looks back to us for direction. She will go about 40 yards ahead on a walk or hike, and then come on back to check on us, and get further direction and approval.

During the 2020 quarantine, Rosie earned her AKC Trick Dog Novice (TKN) and Trick Dog Intermediate (TKI) titles, to add to her one "leg," (now TWO!) or qualifying score of the necessary three, toward her AKC Companion Dog (CD) competitive obedience title. She has her Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Canine Good Citizen Advanced (CGCA) and Canine Good Citizen Urban (CGCU) titles, all of which show how easy she is to travel with and take along with us anywhere we go!
